July 17, 2010 ~ Since filming has wrapped for many of the WFE ‘Extraordinary Extras’ I’ve asked them to share their set stories with the WFE Film blog. I’ve had a positive response from several of our favorite ‘extras’ and we begin with @TheLionShare aka Robert Kestler. Below is the re-cap of his WFE set experience. I will be posting re-caps from Jackie Zane (@JackieZane), Kelly Erickson (@KellMee), Jon Weiss (@BigTopLife) and hopefully many more as filming wraps up. More to come!

Robert Kestler: Benzini Bros. Circus Core Roustabout ~

“Thank you for asking about my experience on this project. I hope everyone will enjoy this film.

From day one on this project Francis Lawrence showed a total genius for film making. His use of the surroundings, sunlight, imagination, and a keen eye made for true movie magic. We shot several scenes at dawn and dusk. The “golden hour” was truly used to it’s fullest by Francis. The cast, namely Robert, Reese and Christoph were truly amazing. Each one truly genuine and kind. Working with two Oscar winners and a future Oscar winner was amazing. Robert Pattinson will show the world with this movie his versatility and depth as an actor. The fight scenes between Robert and Christoph were true genius. Both on the part of the actors and the fact they did the fights themselves. Reese is a wonderful and genuine person. I was privileged to speak with her on set. You will not find a more skilled and polished actress anywhere. Christoph is a true professional. His focus on his character and making it real is second to none. As one of the Core Benzini Roustabouts I was on set quite a bit. We “rousties” actually became like family. We got into character very quickly because of it. The scenes where we raised the circus tent, and hammered tent stakes were made perfect by this relationship. We knew we could count on each other and that made the scene chemistry flow. Now about the animals. Francis and the animal wranglers made pure gold. Rosie, the elephant, was magic to watch. She is so intelligent and gentle. She took her cues coupled with Francis’ vision and made this movie HUGE. The other animals were amazing as well. Major the lion who would not roar, The tigers, bear, and panther were beautiful. The shots of the stampede will be amazing.

I love period movies. So being able to participate in Water for Elephants was a joy. My great-grandfather, Philip Morris, made movies as an actor, in the 1920′s through the 1940′s. The realistic nature of the era made me feel closer to him. It was that real on set! I felt like I had left 2010 and was actually in 1931. There was an electric anticipation each day to see what we would be doing. Though there was real hard work involved I had a lot of fun. The wardrobe, the action, the area we filmed in made it all the more fun. I will eagerly await this films release. I cannot wait to see how they put together all of this genius. The cast and crew along with a great story made this film a pleasure to work on. Everyone was respectful and professional. But I can’t stop without mentioning the fans. The fans made all of us from the smallest role to the biggest star feel loved. Without them this would just have been another great film. The fans added an element of love that made me want to do it for them. Everyday when we came to set and when we left we saw the fans waving to us. What a joy to see people so interested in a film and its actors. I hope everyone enjoys this film because I loved making it.”

Rob, James Dean, And The Path To Becoming A Legend

Over the weekend ELLE France posted a piece on Rob, and his life compared to that of James Dean.

The one, James, is the symbol of the teens of the 50s, him who is 24 years old and who seems ten more in his man's suit there. We are in 1955: in five months, he died. We know everything of this photo: the friendship which united him to the photographer (Dennis Stock), of the place (New York), the fatigue of James this day. James may be immortalized by his friend, what is shown is the total solitude (loneliness) which already announces the eternity. Then, we don't know nothing about the life of the actor. His homosexuality is carefully hidden. And James Dean, who would like to speak about it, has been forbidden to talk about it. It would be the end of his career. Perhaps also the end of his legend. The other one, Robert, is so famous that he couldn’t walk incognito in Times Square. This time is over. There, hunted by a paparazzi, he is 24 years old too and almost the same face as James Dean. He also has to keep his sexual life private, even if it's only to keep silent about the fact that he has a girlfriend, so not to discourage his fans. He is the idol of the ill-being of the teenagers. But, in spite of the isolation due to his stunning fame, he is still connected with others, his mobile phone by his ear. Instead of giving the impression of becoming a legend, he clings on to the reality that still remains.

Between these two photos, some pathos left the stars. But also a certain lyric which made them incomparable..

Szczerze to już nie wiem, które wywiady z Robem są prawdziwe, a ktore sfabrykowane. Biorąc pod uwagę, że Rob udziela stosunkowo mało wywiadów, to pewnie większość z nich jest zmyślona. Almost like in a Jane Austen’s romance. What if this is real reason of the Twilight success?

A step back in time. September 2008, 60 days before the release of Twilight: blogs of the fans are full of comments on the actors chosen to play Edward and Bella on the big screen. The kindest adjective on Robert Pattinson are “inadequate”, “dull” and “ridiculous”. Robert jokes today. He went from the Oympus of Hollywood celebrities to the unstoppable Pattinsonmania movement and securing the 50th place on the Forbes 2010 list of most powerful people. <> , Pattinson explains, and he looks, if possible, even better in reality than on the screen: low voice, elegant bearing and deep gaze, the actor is charming, nice and humble. Nothing of the star. When he talks he looks into your eyes, he is very concentrated when he listens to the questions and always waits a moment before answering. His life has completely changed in less than 6 months: after the Twilight release he had to armour-plate himself, filter news and change hotel 3 times a month because of continual leaks, like it happened in NY during filming “Remember Me”, where he was also run over by a taxi because of the pressure of the twilighters.

Londoner, the youngest of 3 children (his sister Lizzie is a singer), his father imports vintage cars, his mother works for a modeling agency, Pattinson moves a lot of money today, just think about he played in 5 blockbusters (ther’s also HP and the goblet of fire and HP and order of fenix) and that Eclipse, filmed with just 68 million dollars, grossed 400 million dollars in just 2 weeks (the equivalent of the takings of Twiligth). he taunts himself. and Mmmh, yeah, but 2 years ago twilighters of all over the world weren’t happy of the choice of him as Edward, and today the same fans stop him and ask him, kindly, to bite them on their neck, lifting posters up like “Rob bite me”.. Without doubts, one of the (many) secrets of the success of this saga is actually him, the corresponding vampire of the 21th century, an emaciated, romantic and handsome creature with a gothic look and something of the rebel james dean which brings him to a marked unsociability.

-What is like to be considered a sex symbol?
It’s a strange feeling. I realized that in Italy, when I was in montepulciano shooting New Moon. I keep finding incredible the fact that before twilight no one ever turned around to look at me, while now I can’t even walk down the street. But I don’t want to be considered a sex symbol, just an actor.

- Are you stressed by the fans?
Amazed, a bit embarrassed, but not stressed. The fans are a huge support. On set in Tuscany they applauded at every take, even if I didn’t do anything. It was nice. I thought I was in a theatre!

-Why do you think Edward is so fascinating, not only for the female audience?
Because he’s a mysterious character. When you read Stephanie’s books it’s easy to project what you want onto him.

-Does being a vampire help him?
It makes him more intriguing than a human being, like being immortal.

-Would you like being immortal?
Honestly, It doesn’t appeal to me. I would end up getting bored.

-How much are you similar to Edward Cullen?
He often has feelings he can’t handle. That’s a common behavior. It happened to me, too: I’ve always had weird relationships and also in the movies I like messy love stories, not the classic romantic love.

-So nothing like Romeo and Juliet?
I’m more like “last tango in Paris” by Bertolucci (laughs)

-In Eclipse you divide the scene with another male actor, Taylor Lautner. Does it bother you?
Not at all. I feel more free.

-Did you know Kristen Stewart before Twilight?
I had seen her in “Into the wild” by Sean Penn. She’s a responsible actress. But I had already realized it by reading her curriculum: she always made motivated choices. I know her very well by now and I knew she would suffer from all this mania after Twilight, with all the paps and photographers.

-What about your singer career?
It has stopped now. But I keep playing. I wanna do a record in 2 years.

-Your hotel in Montepulciano was mobbed by fans, you were almost run over by a car in NY because of them. How has your life changed?
When I go out I more worried about where to go, because I always meet someone who stops me and ask me an autograph. Everybody recognize me by now and I got paranoid about it.

- Your career has changed, too. It seems like everybody wants Pattinson.
This scares me, too. I can’t understand who really wants me for who I am or who wants me in order to have the Twilight fans.

Update: 'Bel Ami' Still Set to be Released in 2011

There has been speculation that Bel Ami will be released in December 2010. We have now received the following official clarification regarding the movie’s release which is still set for 2011.

Protagonist Pictures have listed the movie’s ‘delivery’ date as December 2010 which means the finished film is due to be delivered to the various distributors by this date. This is separate to its ‘release’ date and it’s still too early to know when this will be, though 2011 is more likely than 2010.

We hope this clarifies the reason why December 2010 is listed on Protagonist Picture’s website and we will update you as soon as an exact release day has been set.

A teenage vampire is not the obvious choice of inspiration for a range of men's underpants. But Robert Pattinson, or R Patz as the star of The Twilight Saga is known by fans, has been named as the inspiration behind Marks and Spencer's new slim-fit underwear.

Dubbed the R-Pant, the low-rise briefs and trunks are designed to be worn under skinny jeans and trousers, a look popularised by the likes of Russell Brand and Mark Ronson, two celebrities the chain cites as design influences.

Despite widely reported criticism by Jeremy Paxman in 2008 when the Newsnight presenter claimed "their pants no longer provide adequate support", one in four UK men still wear M&S pants, according to the retailer.

The R-Pant launch is a thinly-veiled marketing strategy designed to appeal to a younger audience and to sex-up its underwear range. "Over the last three years we've seen an increase in the popularity of hipsters," says Richard Beale, head of merchandising. "The new range is designed to appeal to a younger, fashion-savvy customer."

Olie Arnold, style director of Men's Health, believes there is a market for lower-rise pants. "I hate seeing the waistbands of men's pants poking out of the top of their jeans," he said. He questioned whether M&S was the right target market. "Do M&S really even sell skinny jeans? Maybe lots of women will buy them for their husbands and boyfriends, though."

In recent years footballers have been used to market men's underwear. Cristiano Ronaldo is the current poster boy for Emporio Armani, a role he inherited from David Beckham. Pattinson's skinnier aesthetic is a move away from this trend.

Rob’s new film, Water for Elephants, is casting five children to play his and Reese Witherspoon’s kids and he DID say he’s always wanted to be a young dad…

British heartthrob Robert Pattinson recently admitted that he wants to be a young dad, and now his dream of starting a family is finally coming true! The fanblog for his new film, Water For Elephants, has confirmed that producers are currently casting five kids to play Rob and Reese Witherspoon’s kids!

“I contacted [the casting director] in charge of ‘background or extra’ casting on WFE, as to what children’s roles they were casting for as part of the Tennessee shoot. She said that they were casting children ages 8-15, boys and girls, to fill five roles as Jacob and Marlena’s children,” the blog reports.

In Water for Elephants, Rob plays a Depression-era circus veterinarian who falls madly in love with Marlena (Reese), a performer with the traveling Benzinzi Brothers show. Although Reese, 32, already finished shooting her part, Rob will be working through July 26.

According to the fanblog, Rob’s five children will work on the set for approximately three days. Hopefully he satiates his desire to become a young dad – because his GF Kristen has already said she’s totally not ready to have babies!
