Movies.ie have just published their interview with Robert Pattinson where he talks about Remember Me and Eclipse. You can read the full interview below although some of the questions and answers are quite familiar by now.
Robert Pattinson Interview with Movies.Ie
The Vampire Saga Twilight catapulted young Robert Pattinson to worldwide stardom, rather than take the easy approach of teenage movies Pattinson has carefuly selected a number of thought-provoking roles such as Salvador Dali in ‘Little Ashes’ and this month’s love story with a twist ‘Remember Me’. Here Rob talks about working on the Twilight saga and his new movie roles
Q: So how did you like this experience, compared to being a vampire in upcoming Twilight movie Eclipse?
RP: “I could be doing a little biting in this movie, in those fights! No, it was great, especially not having to put all that makeup on. Yeah, that was one of the main things. But I read this one after the first Twilight film, and it was always in the back of my mind. I don’t know, there was something different about this. It didn’t fit into like a typical teen movie thing. And I never read a script like it.”
Q: In what way?
RP: “It seemed quite realistic. And the character seemed realistic, and I really connected to it. But I don’t really know why!”
Q: Your character Tyler has lots of anger issues and conflicts with his parents. Do you have any of those kinds of pathologies?
RP: “Not really. I’ve known a lot of kids who are troubled teenagers, and stuff. But their families always seem really nice, and supportive around them. And it’s just this kind of unknown. You know, you have this energy that doesn’t really, you don’t know where to place it. But I don’t think I have any particular problems myself, in that respect!”
Q: Now that apartment you live in as a student in the movie….
RP: “I loved that apartment. It was just a little bit messy! But I thought I could come to NY and just hang out at NYU, and pick up mannerisms. But it ended up being more of a circus than I thought it would be. I did know a lot of people who went to NYU as well, so that made it easier. But when you see college movies, it’s always like about a beer hall. And I was like, this can’t be real!”
Q: Was it hard for you to get into character, with that crazy circus going on around you?
RP: “Kind of, at the beginning. And then about halfway through, I sort of had an epiphany about it. I don’t know what happened – it was just fine. But at the beginning, it was just insane. Especially for a character who’s supposed to be lost and looking for things all the time. But you just have to be more disciplined about it.”
Q: How do you deal with the wild stuff always going on around you whenever you show up?
RP: “It’s just sort of learning how to blank things out. But you can’t look up. Because then all the cameras accelerate. You know, you can’t smile, or behave normally.”
Q: How do you feel about the fact that you remind so many people of James Dean?
RP: “I don’t know if it’s a bad thing. But it’s great. Yeah, I think James Dean has been one of the most influential person for young guys, especially for actors. Definitely, in the last fifty years. So yeah, I’m not ashamed to say that I’m very much influenced by him!”
Q: This character is a lot like Twilight’s Edward Cullen, actually. So are you worried about becoming typecast as the brooding, wounded guy in movies?
RP: “Ah, maybe I just am brooding and wounded! And I’m only just realizing it. Nah, I’m not. You just take little steps. But I’m always quite aware of how people are going to view things. And you kind of have to go halfway. Like if I played a 400 pound woman, or something. I mean, people are probably going to judge it more harshly, than other people who have been doing character parts for 20 years. So all the projects I’ve been doing, not in a calculated way, but little baby steps towards other things. I mean, the thing I’m doing now is completely different, in some ways. But at the same time, it’s got a lot of intensity. And I like that, it’s what I like in characters. But people do judge me differently after Twilight. But there’s nothing you can do about that.”
Q: How about your acting in the Dali movie ‘Little Ashes’?
RP: “I didn’t think anyone was ever going to see it! And it’s a very different place to be at, when you think you’re making a movie that nobody’s going to see!”
Q: How so?
RP: “You’re not afraid to experiment with things.”
Q: In what way did you relate to your character in Remember Me personally?
RP: “He’s always the one being harmed. I mean, looking back into the past, bearing grudges and things, I don’t really do that. But the way his violence comes out and doesn’t have legitimate targets, I related to that. You know, when you have a spasm of rage, it goes almost inevitably, to a completely wrong target. And it causes you more problems. So it’s much better to keep it chained up.”
Q: There’s a lot of fighting going on between your character and his father, played by Pierce Brosnan. Is that anything like your relationship with your own father?
RP: “My relationship with my father is the opposite! Actually, Pierce’s character in the script was more controlling and arrogant. But Pierce is just a nice guy! So he wanted the character to be not as horrible a man, or a monster. And that completely changed Tyler’s relationship with him. But I thought that was quite interesting, that this guy is rebelling against nothing. And I’m just attacking him, because I know he can be attacked. But Pierce is great. I had no idea who they were going to cast, and when I found out it was Pierce, I thought, this is going to be a tough act to follow!”
Q: How did you feel about doing those fight scenes, and acting with your fists instead of words?
RP: “I loved it!. Because I never do stuff like that in reality! So in a lot of ways it was quite…cathartic! But with Chris Cooper, I don’t know how I’d feel if I had to fight back. I was continually being beaten up by him! But yeah, it was quite daunting.”
Q: In what way?
RP: “It’s hard. Especially being strangled! It’s really difficult to look like what’s actually happening! Because when you’re being strangled…nothing is really happening! You just sort of stand there. Because I was experimenting with myself! You know, just before we shot it. And I don’t really know what the face is supposed to be, when you’re being strangled.”
Q: Have you ever been in a fight before?
RP: “I’ve been beaten up a few times.”
Q: Who beat you up?
RP: “A lot of people! When I was younger.”
Q: How come?
RP: “I was a bit of an idiot when I was younger. But always unprovoked. In my eyes, anyway!”
Q: Like school bullies?
RP: “No, I never got beat up by school bullies. It was after school. It was generally after I started acting. And I liked to…behave like an actor! Or what I thought was an actor. Which generally provoked a lot of people into hitting me!”
Q: But were you hurt in those fight scenes?
RP: “No, not at all. But they did cut out of the movie where I kind of flipped out afterward. You know, from my own impotence. You walk into this big confrontation, and just end up being completely destroyed by your competitor. And I was doing this thing, like hitting myself afterwards. Like in a spur of the moment thing! Which they cut out of the movie. But I hit myself so hard, I was in pain for the rest of the shoot! It was the most stupid thing I’ve ever done!”
Q: And how about when you go nuts on that little girl in the school, because she’s tormenting your baby sister?
RP: “There was one take on that which they had to cut out. Because it looked like I’d go to jail, not only for vandalism, but for child abuse as well! Because I spun her desk around, and the desk fell over. And she ran out of the classroom, even though she wasn’t supposed to! And when we tried to continue on with the scene, I was like ‘Oh my god, I’m actually going to get arrested for this!’ But it was great. Though she looked absolutely terrified afterwards! But it was quite fun.”
Q: Were you ever worried you wouldn’t pull off an American accent?
RP: “I grew up watching American movies, so I learned how to act by watching American movies, way more than English ones. And I kind of feel a lot more comfortable speaking American. It feels more real to me, in a lot of ways.”

Robert Pattinson interview in the Norwegian magazine TOPP
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
- I HATE TO FLIRT!
He has never flirted with a girl, and he's not very romantic. But we love the it-boy Robert Pattinson (23) anyway.
- Hi! Robert yawns loudly.
Tired or what? I ask.
- Hehe, I'm sorry. I'll shake off my tiredness. It's my first day off in a long time, the hunk answers.
Robert wears a brown wool jumper, black trousers, sneakers and a caps when we meet him at The Dorchester Hotel in London. With a huge beard and messy, half long hair, it's difficult to imagine Robert as the clean shaved vampire Edward Cullen. But he still looks handsome when he takes a sip from a bottle of Cola Light that stands in front of him at the table.
The last years have passed by fast for the English man. Right after he was done filming Twilight, he started shooting the film Remember Me, which arrives in cinemas soon. To be the new it-boy both in Hollywood and other places in the world takes a lot of energy from the 23-year old. Sometimes, it would've been good not to be recognised everywhere.
If you had 24 hours when no one recognised oyu, what would you have done?
- Nothing special, really. It's a little bit weird, because I've been in London for a while now, and I can walk around and live my life as usual, something I didn't think would work. In the USA it doesn't work, though.
Maybe it's because of the beard?
- Yes, I think that might be a reason.
Why did you grow a beard?
- I want to try to go to an audition without anyone knowing who I am, and see what happens. But I don't think they'll let me keep it in my next movie anyway...
ROBERT IS PREGNANT!
With the Twilight hysteria in mind, Robert now focuses on doing other movies in his career. These days, it's his new movie Remember Me that he's trying to promote. It's a movie where Robert plays the angsty teenager, Tyler, who's in deep sorrow after his brother's suicide, and who's at a point in life where nothing happens.
What attracts you about playing a teenager with problems?
- Usually when I read a script it's about an innocent, virginual boy who goes through and inner experience, and it always ends with a happy ending. But Tyler, on the other hand, I feel he was different. He was so lost. Therefore, the role gave me more room, and I couldn't compare the movie to something I'd seen before, Robert says.
Do you recognise something about yourself in Tyler?
- I wish I could. Tyler has that ability that he doesn't worry about the consecueces about things because he has so little to loose. But I can't live the way he does. I can't say something completely random because it will haunt me in months afterwards. Because of that, I never try to say anything controversial.
But the press still manages to find a lot of information about you. What is the worst thing you've ever read about youself?
- I especially remember one time when someone claimed I was pregnant. It said on the cover of an Australian magazine. It was a little weird.
LOVES VINTAGE AND MARC JACOBS
Robert's goal wasn't to become famous, and he has never had a big dream of becoming it. But over night he went from being an unknown acor to a sex symbol for a bunch of girls. To keep his feet on the ground with such huge success, can be difficult.
What's your key to relax after becoming an idol for a lot of people over the night?
- I think that's the reason. The people who loose their minds, have fought to become famous their whole lives. And when they reach the top, they thinks "Yes, I deserve this!". Many people appreciates fame so much, it's scary.
For many people, a status as a celebrity involves a change in their style. Robert, on the other hand, looks very normal and relaxed in his clothes.
What kind of clothes do you like to shop?
- I like second hand very much. I love vintage, and I wish I could shop in vintage stores the whole time. But because a lot of paparazzis follows me around, it can be difficult.
What do you usually wear at finer events?
- I use a lot of Marc Jacobs. I almost always use his clothes on premieres because I feel it fits me, and I can't always buy something new.
NOT A ROMANTIC PERSON
Both as a vampire and as himself, Robert has a lot of female fans. But it hasn't given him a high confidence when it comes to flirting.
How do you flirt with ladies?
- I've never flirted with a lady, but if I someday went to a stranger lady with the intention of dating her, it would've never worked. I have to see the person at least 25 times before I do that.
Do you see yourself as a romantic person?
- I'm not romantic when it comes to girls, says the hunk, who confirmed his relationship with Kristen Stewart during the BAFTA Awards in London the 21st of February.
- But it's very difficult. We have to do a lot to avoid attention, Robert told the newspaper The Sun.

"I had my book at the ready for him to sign, but the girl next to me decided she was more important and shoved my book out the way. :/ HOWEVER... Rob saw this, moved the girl's book, took mine off me and signed it. ;D So sweet. He then said to me 'I like your pretty little hair bow' and touched it. Maybe I died inside. ;D Instead of being sensible and just smiling I decided to squeal 'AHHH, THANKYOU PATTY' at him. Bahaha. He laughed at this, said 'pfft, Patty' and ruffled my hair.
Just ahh. That's all i can come up with to describe that moment. Fun times. ;D"
edit.
tym razem 26th February, Oxford Circus, London
"Rob then turns to look at me and says 'Come over here, I don't bite' then looks down at the picture in his hand (of Edward) and laughs that lovely tinkling laugh. *sigh*
I walked over slowly (I'm sorry I'm just a big loser, it's true *smiles*) and stood before him. He asked me if I had a pen to sign the picture and I literally died a little... I didn't have a pen.
I frantically looked around the shop and picked up a pack of Sharpie pens and tore the pack open. Bahahahaha. The shop man did not look happy at this, but who cares? Rob Pattinson needed a pen. ;D
I gave him the pen, he asked me my name and signed the picture to me. Whilst signing it he says 'I hope you're going to pay for this pen, I don't condone stealing' to which I replied 'no' :D He laughed handed me the picture, took the pack of pens off me and... wait for it... PAID FOR THE PENS.
Everytime I've said I've died within this encounter? I take it back, I died when he bought the pens. How many people can say Robert Pattinson paid for a pack of pens for them? (Whilst purchasing ciggies may I add) That's exactly what he did. He gave me the pens back after he paid. :D *squeals like a fangirl* He then said it was nice meeting us and started to walk out the shop.
I, after holding in a giant squeal for so long, let it out and squealed and jumped up and down like a strange fangirl (I just couldn't help myself). What I didn't realise was that he was still in the shop. He turned around after hearing an earshattering scream and fucking SMIRKED AT ME. He then waved at us and left the shop. |

Box Office Remember me

The Office's Stephen Merchant Didn’t Want Robert Pattinson in His New Film
The Office's Stephen Merchant has said he wouldn't have wanted Robert Pattinson to star in his and Ricky Gervais' new film Cemetery Junction. The comedian and writer revealed he and Ricky chose to cast relatively unknown, up-and-coming British actors in the film about a group of young people growing up in Reading in the 70s, because they didn't want stars like the Twilight actor stealing the spotlight.
Merchant said: "If you have a group of friends and one of them is Robert Pattinson, you're sort of 'This is a Robert Pattinson movie' where as we wanted people to accept they were friends so we had to find new people, and these were the people we found."
He added: "Everyone forgets that when we did The Office, pretty much everyone, including Ricky, was kind of unknown. Audiences sort of accepted them as real people, and even with Extras, aside from the stars everyone was relatively unknown apart from
Ricky so we've always sought out new blood and this was really exciting for us."
Merchant revealed the film is "drawn on lots of elements of Ricky and I's childhood, but it's almost a romantic version of our memories of the past.
"It seemed like it was a lot hotter and people seemed cooler and sexier than they probably were and there's far fewer bad teeth than there were in the 70s."
Speaking of working with Ricky again he joked: "I never enjoy working with Ricky, it's always an exhausting process. But, as you may have noticed, I have never had success beyond working with Ricky so you need to go back to the fold. I'm always drawn back in."

Jak on mógł zagrać człowieka? I to jeszcze z tą okropną upudrowaną Emilie o twarzy dziecka? Zdecydowanie przegiął, co on w ogóle sobie uważa :D |

There Will Be Blood mu zaproponowano).

P.S. Czy któraś z was czytała Bel Ami?

Wow |

A czy któraś z was czytała scenariusz albo książkę?
