Film New Moon

The first official poster for New Moon has been revealed! It is part of a cache of posters that Steve “Frosty” Weintraub from Collider found in Las Vegas as exhibitors begin to set up for ShoWest, a convention for theater owners.

The poster is the familiar New Moon logo that was first unveiled on February 19th via MTV in poster form.

In La Push

These are exclusive on set photos of Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner as Bella and Jacob shooting scenes in what’s supposed to be La Push yesterday for New Moon.

As you can see, they’re both wearing wigs. Movie making magic! And I always thought her hair was that thick and lustrous! There’d been a lot of questions about whether or not Taylor could grow into the role. From the back, Taylor does look kinda man now. Kristen’s make up is great. Am all over the stain they use on her lips. Gorgeous.

Right now, filming has primarily involved these two with some wolf shots thrown in here and there. However, while Taylor/Jacob will feature prominently, right now there are several “Edward” dream sequences planned, just so the crazy fan moms don’t lose their sh-t over not enough Robert Pattinson. Whether or not those parts make it to the final cut is another story.

Enough about Vampires and Wolves…

The civilians have arrived in Vancouver to shoot scenes for New Moon: Mike Welch, Justin Chon, Christian Serratos (who is GORGEOUS!), and Anna Kendrick.

Let’s talk about Anna Kendrick, perhaps the only intentionally hilarious part of the Twilight movie, she stole every scene.

Kendrick was named by Entertainment Weekly as one of the 9 to watch in 2009, the second youngest actress ever to be nominated for a Tony Award, has been shooting the highly anticipated Scott Pilgrim vs the World and…

A movie with George Clooney and Jason Bateman directed by Jason Reitman called Up in the Air. Impressive, non? Amanda Seyfried Syndrome. Remember Anna Kendrick.

Anyway, Mike, Justin, Christian, and Anna are all filming this week in Vancouver.

Twilight cast: bits and bites

Saturday – Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson were working in the day, then hooked up with Kristen Stewart and Edi Cathegi for Indian food. Towards the end of their meal, fans approached for photos. They obliged. Then Kristen, Taylor, and Edi hopped in a cab, followed by Pattinson by himself.
It was warm in Vancouver, sooo beautiful, this weekend. So even more fangirls and fanmoms were waiting outside Kristen’s hotel, hoping for a glimpse. For hours they wait. Very dedicated.

Back in LA, Nikki Reed was photographed with her mom and a friend shopping for furniture, hanging out a few days ago after her Juno Awards weekend in Vancouver. Have received many, many messages today pointing out that this black BMW – apparently it’s Rob’s? Ohhhhhh…here comes the hate mail!

Exclusive photos: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart shooting scenes for New Moon together today along with the high school crew and a glimpse of Tayor Lautner too. Looks like they’re doing a much, much better job with the makeup this time around especially Pattinson’s Edward. Very pretty. He is a beautiful, beautiful boy. The hair. The hair is working.

Anyway, about this scene – supposedly in the parking lot of the school and there’s an intimate moment between Bella and Edward. Or something.

New Moon Filmed at Tofino for “Swells and Sunset Shots”

There’s a new article up about why the New Moon crew decided to film in the Tofino area at Pacific Rim Park in March. The wild nature of the area, despite the relative closeness to Vancouver, was a big selling point -

Bannerman, who has family on Vancouver Island, said there was a good reason the filmmakers chose to shoot scenes for New Moon (due Nov. 20) on the rugged West Coast before they started principal photography in Vancouver.

“We knew what we were looking for had to be extreme and close in proximity to Vancouver,” said Bannerman, who came over with a downsized crew.

“We needed those swells and sunset shots, aggressive waves and agitated water in a coastal region that reflects the Forks and La Push (Wash.) area.”

And, in what may be the most incredibly dense logic train I’ve heard in a while, Keven Drews, who wrote the recent story about New Moon filming in Tofino, can’t believe how much traffic his story got–then expresses frustration that other media and fansites “mined” the story -

“Our traffic skyrocketed. We got more readers in a day than we get in a month,” said Drews, who was also contacted by publications as far away as New Jersey. To his frustration, he also saw his story “mined” by other media and fansites.

Ok, I’m not sure what exactly he means by “mined”–but how could he not realize the attention from other media and fansites is exactly why he received more hits in a day for the small-town paper than it usually gets in a month? Why in the world would you care if your news stories was picked up and spread by other media and fansites?

Actor Michael Sheen, who played high-profile roles in The Queen and Frost/Nixon, is set to take on the role of Aro in New Moon, with an estimated £5million payday. This according to the Daily Mail, which says–

Sheen, 40, who made his name with uncannily realistic portrayals of well-known figures in Oscar-winning films The Queen, Frost/Nixon and The Damned United, will get his biggest pay cheque yet, a reported £5million, to star in New Moon.

In New Moon, Sheen will play Aro, the leader of an Italian vampire clan called the Volturi.

Director Chris Weitz confirmed Sheen’s casting to The Mail on Sunday and said he had ‘aggressively’ pursued the actor.

‘Michael’s role is so important because he’s the head of all vampires,’ he said. ‘Aro is, on the surface, a very gracious and friendly vampire, but beneath that he is a tremendous threat.’

Ironically, Michael Sheen previously played the werewolf leader Lucian in Underworld. I think this is great news, given his great work in Frost/Nixon recently!

New Moon Set Pictures: What Can We Learn from Them?

Now that we’ve seen some pictures from filming on the set of New Moon, what can we learn from them? What about the camera that Kristen Stewart is holding in one photo? -

In New Moon, Bella receives the camera, and it becomes a major part of her tormentous break-up with Edward. Yet, this is a digital camera, and in the book, the camera is not. I’m sure this remediable, since digital photos, too, are erase-able.
Nevertheless, as this is, to fans, a most important scene for The Twilight Saga: New Moon to get right, this photo may give us a reason to believe it shall.
Another, of Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella might make one think they might be in the middle of filming the break-up scene also. The look on Kristen’s face says it all, don’t you think?

Rumor: New Moon and Eclipse Filming Simultaneously?

This is all just speculation at this point, but it’s worth keeping in mind as we see more from the New Moon set. Are Eclipse and New Moon–or at least parts of them–being filmed at the same time? A reader over at TwiCrack sends this in -

One of my best guy friends went out to LA to visit his mom over Easter and he ended up going to Easter dinner with someone who worked on Twilight and is currently working on New Moon. They talked briefly about it, saying that they would film in Italy at the end of May. My friend also said that the crewmember told him that they are currently shooting both the 2nd AND the 3rd. I asked my friend if he meant that they were filming Eclipse right after they finish New Moon, but he said that he was sure they are filming both. It kind of makes sense and it explains why Taylor Lautner was in the parking lot pictures on Lainey Gossip (Jacob shows up at Forks H.S. in Eclipse to confront Edward).
